Bootstrapped Changelog & feedback boards
Why watch Hum is turning feedback boards into AI that reads sales and support conversations so product teams stop missing what customers already said.

Sarah Hum is co-founder of Canny, which helps software teams collect and manage customer feedback. She was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, she told Indie Hackers, and studied graphic design.

Winning an AT&T Hackathon in Las Vegas

She began at Facebook as a design intern, she wrote on Canny's blog, and met Andrew Rasmussen, then starting as an engineer there, through mutual friends. The two began working on side projects and entering hackathons. Their team won an AT&T hackathon in Las Vegas, Nevada, with a $45,000 prize. "Maybe we can really do this," Rasmussen recalled thinking.

Turning Canny Around to Serve Companies

Early versions of Canny tried to give consumers a say in the roadmaps of products they used. "We soon realized that we had it backwards," she wrote, and they shifted to selling to B2B SaaS companies. Hum runs design; Rasmussen, her partner, runs engineering.
