GPU cloud Distributed systems
Ding is the systems co-founder turning multi-cloud GPU supply into one API and console that AI teams can operate day to day.
Ronald Ding is co-founder and CTO of Shadeform, a marketplace for GPU cloud capacity that went through Y Combinator in summer 2023.
Distributed Systems Work at AWS
Ding was an engineer and tech lead at Robinhood, AWS and Microsoft, working on large-scale distributed infrastructure. In Shadeform's YC launch post, the founders wrote that they had built and operated cloud infrastructure services at AWS and Azure and knew the pain of infrastructure management as customers at Robinhood and Capital One.
Answering the GPU Shortage
The launch post framed the problem as a GPU shortage: demand for training and inference made GPUs hard and expensive to get on AWS, GCP and Azure while smaller cloud providers came online. Shadeform's goal, the founders wrote, was to make multi-cloud ML infrastructure simple to use.
