Co-founder, Chairman and CEO
CoreWeave
Michael Intrator is co-founder, chairman, and CEO of CoreWeave, a cloud built for AI workloads. He has led the company since 2017, from a crypto-mining startup to a public company, according to CoreWeave's leadership page.
Trading Carbon Credits at Natsource
Intrator was a commodities trader at Natsource, a carbon credit trading and greenhouse gas asset manager in New York City, New York, from 1998 to 2014, according to Forbes. In 2013 he and Brian Venturo co-founded Hudson Ridge Asset Management, a natural gas hedge fund, according to Wikipedia. He holds a master of public administration from Columbia University.
Ordering Two GPUs on Amazon
In 2016, Intrator, Venturo, and Brannin McBee were using Bitcoin to bet on pool games and fantasy football, and they ordered two Nvidia GPUs on Amazon to start mining, according to a story from The New York Times, republished by the Yonkers Observer. "We founded the company on a credit card," Intrator told Forbes. They formed Atlantic Crypto in 2017 to mine ether.
When crypto crashed in 2018, the co-founders bought thousands of GPUs from failing miners for pennies on the dollar. Atlantic Crypto became CoreWeave in 2019 and moved from mining to leasing computing capacity.
