Scouting the Bay Area for Two Weeks
Working full-time in London, England, he decided against business school and came to the San Francisco Bay Area in California on a two-week scouting trip, he told Mixergy. He joined Shoto, a startup that pulled together photos friends had taken. A project to improve Shoto's onboarding had a real impact on long-term retention.
Learning Asana From Videos
The idea for Chameleon came while he was learning Asana by playing a video on one monitor and replicating each step in the product on another. Before building anything, he and Brian spent a month interviewing people about onboarding, then cold-emailed startups from the Y Combinator list until one let them build its onboarding, he told SaaS Club.
Raising a $13 Million Series A From Matrix
Chameleon raised $13 million in Series A financing led by Matrix Partners, with follow-on from True Ventures, Agrawal wrote on the Chameleon blog. Ilya Sukhar of Matrix, who co-founded Parse, joined the board.
