Founder and CEO
Credo AI
Navrina Singh is founder and CEO of Credo AI, a platform for AI governance and risk management. She founded it in 2020 with Eli Chen after years of building AI products at Qualcomm and Microsoft.
Growing Up in a Military Family in India
"My dad was in the military for four decades and my mom was a teacher turned fashion designer," Singh told Unite.AI. They encouraged her curiosity and gave her a safe place to explore the "what ifs." When she was growing up in India, she said, women were not afforded as many opportunities as men, and many decisions were already made for a girl based on what society accepted.
Crossing Oceans for Graduate School and a Qualcomm Job
Singh graduated from the College of Engineering in Pune, India, and came to the United States for a master's in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, according to Forbes. She then worked as an engineer at Qualcomm, where meeting founder Irwin Jacobs inspired her to think big, and where she began working in machine learning. While at Qualcomm she earned an executive MBA at USC Marshall School of Business in Los Angeles, California.
In 2011 she started exploring artificial intelligence to build new businesses at Qualcomm, she told Unite.AI. Over the following decade she built AI businesses and applications across speech, vision, and language at Microsoft and Qualcomm.
Defining Good AI at Credo
She spent years at Microsoft defining what "good" meant for AI, Forbes wrote. "I had a lot of conviction that building the next frontier within this AI revolution is going to be a set of capabilities that enables enterprises to build AI in a good way," she said. Credo AI started with $5.5 million in seed funding led by Decibel Partners, with Village Global and AI Fund.
