Tabnine
Why watch
Weiss spent a decade pioneering AI code assistants for enterprises that need privacy and context, not just another autocomplete demo.
Dror Weiss is co-founder of Tabnine, the AI code assistant, which he started as Codota with Eran Yahav. He has worked as a software developer for many years, he told the JetBrains blog.
A Coffee With Eran Yahav
Yahav, a long-time friend and a researcher in program synthesis, showed Weiss early work over coffee. "Hey, man. That's the future," Yahav recalled Weiss saying on The Changelog. The two started around 2014, building in coffee shops under the name Codota, and went to raise money around 2016 to 2017.
Training on Open-Source Code
Codota fed public code from GitHub and StackOverflow into machine learning models, TechCrunch wrote when Khosla backed the company. In 2019 Codota acquired a company called Tabnine and took its name.
