Ankur Goyal
Founder and CEO
Braintrust
Ankur Goyal is founder and CEO of Braintrust, a platform for evaluating and monitoring AI applications. He dropped out of college to join the founding team at SingleStore, then called MemSQL, according to First Round Review.
Growing Up Around Medical Records
As a child of two doctors, he grew up watching how time-consuming it was for his parents to update medical records by hand, Lightspeed says. He went on to found Impira, which used AI to automate work with digital content and was later acquired by Figma, where he led the AI team.
An Eval System Built on Snowflake
At Impira the team argued for months about which model to ship. "So we argued for like two or three months and then prototyped an eval system on top of Snowflake and some scripts, and then shipped the new model like two weeks later," he told Latent Space. He called the debate one of those "obvious irrational bottlenecks." He hit the same evaluation problem again at Figma, which led to Braintrust.
