Photon

Open-source Spectrum framework and hosted platform that lets developers run AI agents over iMessage, WhatsApp, SMS/RCS, Telegram, email, voice, and related channels through one API. Photon raised a $4.5 million seed round co-led by Gradient and A*, with Vercel participating, in October 2026.

Overall Score
Conditional recommend

Photon's open-source Spectrum SDK lets a developer build an agent once and deliver it over iMessage, WhatsApp, SMS, Telegram, Slack and voice, with a hosted cloud for managed channels. It targets teams that want agents in messaging apps, and a full contact-center replacement is a different product.

Best for

Teams shipping consumer or SMB agents that should live inside iMessage, WhatsApp, or SMS instead of forcing another app install.

Not ideal for

Enterprises that only need an in-product web chat widget, or buyers who require deep WhatsApp Business compliance history from a long-tenured BSP.

Verdict

Photon builds Spectrum, a multi-channel agent framework and hosted layer so agents reach people on messaging surfaces they already use.
