"Before founding SpotDraft, I was a lawyer," Bijapur told Pulse 2.0. He practiced corporate law at Talwar Thakore and Associates in Mumbai, India, and at White & Case in New York City, New York. He trained at Harvard, according to LawNext.

Copy-Pasting Contracts on New Year's Eve

The idea came on a New Year's Eve when he was working on due diligence, eating Chinese food, and reading about Elon Musk's self-driving cars, according to LawNext. "How are people building tech for self-driving cars, yet here I am, copy-pasting words on a contract?" he recalled thinking.

SpotDraft began as an AI redlining platform. Bijapur told LawNext that its first AI approach was only as accurate as a coin toss, which pushed the company to build alongside early customers and grow into a full contract lifecycle product. In 2025 it raised $54 million in Series B funding.
