Ecommerce Accounting

Why watch

Pinchevski is building Finaloop so ecommerce founders get real-time books and inventory numbers without living inside QuickBooks spreadsheets.

Lioran Pinchevski was an accountant who could not read his own company's numbers. His side business, a direct-to-consumer sperm-freezing startup called Sppare.me, had grown to "high seven figures" in sales, he told TechCrunch, and that experience led him to found Finaloop, an accounting service for e-commerce sellers.

Working on M&A Tax at PwC

Pinchevski is a lawyer and accountant by training. He spent most of his career at PwC, splitting his time between New York City, New York, and Tel Aviv, Israel, and working mainly on international tax in mergers and acquisitions, he said on the Free To Grow CFO podcast. The podcast notes that he holds degrees in accounting and law from Tel Aviv University and the University of Michigan. He rose from junior associate to partner in the firm's M&A department, he told Compass Rose Ventures.

Running Sppare.me Without Clear Financials

He started the fertility brand as a side hustle after he and his wife struggled to conceive a second time. "As a founder, I felt that I'm quite blind with my business," he said on Free To Grow CFO. External bookkeepers never gave him the results he expected, so he pulled data from different sources himself. He reasoned that if an accountant with a tax background struggled, many other founders did too.

Pitching Finaloop to Founders Who Hate Bookkeeping

"Every online seller needs to do accounting, both from a compliance perspective and a business visibility perspective," he told TechCrunch. Finaloop pulls together the ledger, the bookkeeping and the inventory tracking that sellers otherwise manage separately.

In June 2024, TechCrunch reported that Finaloop had raised $35 million in a Series A led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with Vesey Ventures, Commerce Ventures and earlier backers Accel and Aleph participating.
