Series B+ AI accounting
Seibert is trying to make startup accounting AI-native so books and financials stay current without a month-end archaeology project.
Jeff Seibert is co-founder and CEO of Digits, which builds real-time finance software for small businesses. Digits is his third company.
Crashlytics Joins Twitter in 2013
In 2007 he co-founded Increo, a document collaboration startup that Box acquired in 2009, he told Unite.AI. In 2011 he co-founded Crashlytics, a mobile crash reporting tool that Twitter acquired in 2013 and Google acquired in 2017. He stayed at Twitter, where he became head of consumer product.
Waiting Weeks for the Books
At Crashlytics he was struck by the gap between the product dashboards his team used and the QuickBooks files, Excel models and PDF reports on the finance side. "We were waiting 2-3 weeks after every month to get our financial reports," he said.
Twitter reinforced the point. When he asked the finance team a budgeting question, the answer was, in his telling, "We haven't run those books. Give us a few weeks." He started Digits "with a single goal: make small-business finance real-time, interactive, and intuitive."
