Pinecone
Edo Liberty is founder and chief scientist of Pinecone, the vector database company. He founded it in 2019 and led it as CEO for six years before becoming chief scientist, he writes on his website.
Heading Yahoo's Research Lab
Liberty was a senior research director at Yahoo and head of Yahoo's research lab in New York City, New York, building machine learning platforms for advertising, web search, security, and email. He then became a director of research at AWS and head of Amazon AI Labs, which built parts of SageMaker, OpenSearch, and Rekognition. He teaches a course on algorithms in large language models at Columbia University.
Pitching Vector Search to Skeptical Investors
Liberty was rejected by 40 venture capital firms and had six months of runway, The Product Market Fit Show said, before raising $100 million from a16z two years later. Pinecone is now used by more than a million engineers, he writes. His current research focus is long-term memory for AI.
