Jared Zoneraich

Jared Zoneraich is co-founder and CEO of PromptLayer, a platform for managing and testing the prompts behind AI applications. It is his first company.

An Internal Tool Posted on Twitter

PromptLayer started as an internal tool. "We just put it on Twitter and people liked it," he told Every. The company launched its product in January 2023, a few months after ChatGPT came out, he said on Practical AI, and its first users were indie hackers and hobbyists.

Parent Lab's Teacher-Turned-Prompt-Engineer

The company's thesis came from a call with Parent Lab, which builds an AI parenting coach. One of its prompt engineers was a teacher with 15 years in the classroom and no technical background, who edited prompts in PromptLayer and then checked the results on her phone. Zoneraich concluded that teams will not win by hiring the best engineers. They win, he argues, by working with domain experts.
