Braden Ream
Co-founder and CEO
Voiceflow
Braden Ream is co-founder and CEO of Voiceflow, a platform for building AI agents that started as Storyflow, a children's story app for Alexa. His co-founders are Andrew Lawrence, Michael Hood and Tyler Han, according to the Ivey Business Review.
Interactive Children's Stories on Alexa
The team's first idea, a voice commerce app inspired by Honey, was not technically possible, Ream told the review. They turned to interactive children's stories on Alexa to help kids learn to read, and that app, Storyflow, "actually did quite well." They raised $50,000 for it but hit a unit economics problem: they had to produce all of the content themselves.
The 2018 Rebrand
According to BetaKit, Storyflow renamed itself Voiceflow and pivoted to a drag-and-drop tool for building Alexa skills. Over 1,000 people, including startups and businesses, signed up after it launched in early November.
