Which one fits
Both are tools your own team runs, so the choice comes down to the platforms you test and how you want to pay.
Choose Katalon if
- Your QA team wants one studio for web, mobile, API and Windows desktop tests.
- You want to start free. Katalon Studio's free version authors and runs tests on your own machine.
- You need on-premises or offline licenses. Enterprise offers private cloud, on-premises and offline runtime licenses.
Choose mabl if
- You want low-code browser tests that repair themselves when the page changes, and you want to run them in CI.
- You want one license for web, API, accessibility and performance tests, with unlimited local and CI runs.
- Your own team will write and own the tests.
What buyers say
“Katalon is better if you want one studio covering web, mobile, and API with room to drop into code. mabl is better if the team wants low-code web tests with AI healing and less IDE ceremony.”

“mabl when self-healing web journeys are the pain. Katalon when you refuse to give up script control across more than just browser flows.”

“Katalon covers web, mobile, API, and Windows desktop in one studio, and the free version let us start on our own machines. mabl's self-healing browser tests are nice, but we test more than the browser.”
